Abstract

This article provides a brief overview of various archaeological discoveries from around the world. In Italy, excavations outside the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran revealed walls of a papal palace dating back to the 9th century AD. In Poland, a 16th-century bronze compass was discovered in tunnels beneath gardens in Frombork, potentially belonging to astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. In Massachusetts, musket balls fired during the American Revolution were recovered from Minute Man National Historical Park. In Mexico, archaeologists found Mayan glyphs describing the founding of a town called Keh Witz Nal. In Namibia, research at Narabeb revealed evidence of an ancient freshwater lake visited by early humans. In Israel, a 3,800-year-old textile fragment from the Cave of Skulls provided evidence of fabric dyeing using Kermes vermilio insects. In Azerbaijan, stone game boards older than those found in Egypt suggest the game of 58 holes may have originated in the region. In Japan, a wooden strip with mathematical equations was discovered, potentially part of an ancient multiplication table. In Egypt, the construction of the Giza pyramids resulted in heavy metal contamination from the use of arsenic-alloyed copper tools. In Indonesia, evidence from Mololo Cave suggests early human occupation at least 55,000 years ago, along with the discovery of a plant-based artifact. [Extracted from the article]
