Abstract
The Federal Reserve's 12 regional banks have implemented a policy for responding to public requests for information, in response to demands for increased transparency from lawmakers. The policy, which will be effective from January 1st, outlines which records are subject to disclosure, the process for requesting them, and certain exemptions. Lawmakers from both political parties have expressed frustration with the reserve banks' immunity to federal freedom-of-information law, and have proposed legislation to subject the banks to congressional oversight requests.
