Abstract
The article focuses on the current risks to women's voting rights in the United States, highlighting how new federal and state legislation imposing stricter voting requirements disproportionately affect women, especially married women, women of color, and working mothers. It emphasizes that these measures, such as photo ID laws and reduced early voting, create barriers that undermine broad democratic participation despite existing research confirming the security of U.S. elections. The article also traces the historical role of women in advancing democracy and notes ongoing efforts by women to challenge voting restrictions through legal action and civic engagement. It concludes that expanding voting access and inclusive participation are essential for a representative and resilient democracy.
