Abstract
The article discusses various redactions of the Visio Sancti Pauli, focusing on Redaction VI and its unique portrayal of infernal punishment for livestock thieves. The text, possibly composed in the eighth century, has strong connections to Ireland and English monastic foundations on the Continent. The punishment of thieves riding fiery horses is also found in other medieval visions, including an Old English homily, indicating a widespread theme of assigning punishments corresponding to specific sins in diverse cultural contexts.
