Abstract

This article examines the digitalization and social education functions of museums, focusing on the Palace Museum in Beijing, China, as a case study. It highlights the transformation of museums into interactive cultural platforms that integrate digital technologies—such as 3D modeling and virtual exhibitions—to enhance accessibility, preservation, and user engagement beyond physical constraints. The research includes a visitor survey revealing that most attendees are aged 18 to 55, with relatively low frequency and motivation for museum visits, underscoring the need for improved digital presentation and educational outreach. The study proposes an adaptive feature enhancement algorithm to optimize 3D models of cultural relics, aiming to improve virtual exhibition quality and user experience. Findings suggest that integrating digital resources, user-centered design, and interdisciplinary cooperation can expand museums' cultural influence and educational impact, though broader studies are recommended for more generalizable conclusions.
