Abstract
NJIT is investing $10 million to enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, aiming to become a leader in AI research and application in higher education. The university's existing AI research activities totaled nearly $60 million in 2023, and the new initiative will focus on machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and robotics. NJIT will establish the Grace Hopper AI Research Institute with $6 million in support from an anonymous donor, named after the pioneering American computer scientist and mathematician.
