Abstract

The article focuses on the Native Elements Art Festival + Market, an event held at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden and Convention Center that celebrates Native American land, plants, people, and art. Taking place over Memorial Day weekend, the festival features up to 200 Native American artists showcasing works in various mediums such as painting, beadwork, jewelry, pottery, carving, and fashion, with opportunities for direct artist-patron engagement. Highlighted artists include Donald Lomawumu Sockyma (Hopi), Marla Allison (Laguna Pueblo), Autumn Borts-Medlock (Santa Clara Pueblo), and Veronica Poblano (Zuni), each presenting distinctive pieces reflecting their cultural heritage and personal experiences. The event also includes special programming such as an opening reception with an auction, panel discussions, food, entertainment, and the presentation of the Native Elements Distinguished Achievement Award to a notable Native artist advocate.
