Abstract

The article discusses the work of the Native American Rights Fund (NARF) in advancing Native American civil rights. NARF was founded in 1970 to provide legal advice and assistance to Native American tribes, organizations, and individuals. The organization has taken on significant cases, such as the U.S. v. Washington case, which resulted in the recognition of treaty rights for tribes in western Washington. NARF has also worked on cases involving terminated tribes, such as the Menominee Nation in Wisconsin, and tribes in Maine seeking the return of their land. The article highlights the importance of federal elections in shaping the future of Native American civil rights and emphasizes the need to protect Native Americans' voting rights.
