Abstract

The article discusses the fundamental aspects of atomic structure, beginning with J.J. Thomson's proposal of an atom as a spherical entity with uniformly distributed positive charge and embedded electrons, likened to a raisin pudding or watermelon model. It discusses Rutherford's pivotal alpha particle scattering experiment of 1911, which demonstrated that atoms have a dense, positively charged nucleus and vast empty space around it.
