Abstract

Comet C/2023 A3, also known as Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, put on a spectacular display for observers worldwide in September and October 2024. Initially discovered in January 2023, the comet brightened as it approached the Sun, displaying a dust tail and ion tail. Observers noted its impressive brightness and unique features, such as a prominent antitail and multiple jets in the inner coma. While not classified as a "great comet," Tsuchinshan-ATLAS provided a memorable astronomical event before fading from view as it journeyed back to the outer solar system.
