Abstract
Sir Ernest Oppenheimer, founder and chairperson of the Anglo American Corporation for 40 years, played a significant role in the South African diamond and gold mining industry. He was also a Member of Parliament and a philanthropist. Oppenheimer's career began in the diamond brokerage firm of Dunkelsbuhler & Company in London, where he demonstrated his expertise in diamond valuation. He later became involved in the formation of the De Beers Consolidated Mines Company and played a key role in the establishment of the Consolidated Diamond Mines of South West Africa. Oppenheimer's leadership and business acumen helped establish the Anglo American Corporation as a world-leading corporation. He was also known for his political career and his commitment to racial equality and social justice. Sir Ernest Oppenheimer passed away in 1957 at the age of 77. [Extracted from the article]
