Abstract
The article focuses on the escalating crisis in Cuba following the U.S. military removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and the subsequent U.S. Executive Order imposing additional tariffs on countries supplying oil to Cuba. This energy embargo has exacerbated Cuba’s chronic fuel shortages, leading to widespread blackouts, transportation collapse, economic decline, and a near halt in tourism, which is the island’s main revenue source. Despite government efforts to install renewable energy systems, the situation remains dire, with growing public health risks and economic hardships for ordinary Cubans, who increasingly rely on expensive private businesses for basic goods. The Cuban government insists on resisting U.S. pressure and expresses willingness for dialogue only if national sovereignty is respected, while uncertainty persists about the potential for protests, humanitarian crises, or U.S. intervention.
