Abstract

The article takes a critical look at the idea that an inscription concerning emperor Hadrian (reg. AD 117–138) recorded in the first book of Pausanias' description of Greece (1.5.5) was modelled after the account of deeds, honors and expenses of emperor Augustus (Res Gestae Divi Augusti).
