Abstract
The article focuses on the development and reform of tourism management education in China within the framework of the "new liberal arts" construction, which integrates technological innovation and traditional culture transformation. It identifies key challenges in tourism management education, including unclear training objectives, an outdated curriculum system lacking local and technological relevance, insufficient practical teaching, and a teaching staff with diverse but often inadequate backgrounds. The paper proposes targeted strategies such as updating talent training goals, developing interdisciplinary and regionally characteristic curricula, enhancing practical and innovation-oriented teaching methods, and building specialized faculty teams. Emphasizing a student-centered approach, the article advocates for comprehensive curriculum reform and the use of new technologies like virtual reality to align tourism education with contemporary economic and social development needs.
