Abstract
Student protesters at various universities in the United States have been met with arrests, suspensions, and threats of expulsion as colleges crack down on unrest sparked by the Israel-Hamas war. Graduation season has begun, and smaller demonstrations by pro-Palestinian activists have taken place at Duke University and the University of California at Berkeley. Comedian Jerry Seinfeld made a dig at Harvard University during his speech at Duke, where some students walked out in protest. Responses to the protests have varied among schools, with some canceling ceremonies and clearing protest camps, while others have signaled they won't divest from companies with ties to Israel.
