Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive overview of Morocco's agrifood transformation, focusing on key national strategies such as the Green Morocco Plan (2008–2020) and Generation Green (2020–2030). It examines Morocco’s efforts to modernize agriculture through sustainable practices—including conservation agriculture, wastewater reuse, and agroforestry—while addressing challenges like climate change, water scarcity, and structural inequalities. The review highlights the roles of agricultural cooperatives, private sector involvement, and public–private partnerships in advancing productivity, rural employment, and export growth, alongside persistent issues of inclusivity, land tenure security, and environmental sustainability. Morocco’s experience is contextualized as a potential model for arid and semi-arid regions seeking integrated, climate-resilient, and socially inclusive agrifood development.
