Abstract

The article focuses on the events at the US Embassy compound in Saigon, Vietnam, during the Tet Offensive on January 31, 1968. A 19-man Viet Cong sapper team attacked the compound, breaching the perimeter wall and taking control of part of the area, but they failed to enter the chancery building despite heavy fire. US Military Police and Marine Security Guards responded, and reinforcements from the 101st Airborne Division arrived, ultimately eliminating the remaining Viet Cong and capturing one survivor.
