Abstract

The article discusses Edinburgh's efforts to achieve a "Net Zero, Climate Ready Edinburgh" by 2030, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions from cars and improving public transportation. The implementation of the city's first Low Emissions Zone in June 2024 is part of this initiative. The article also highlights the long history of climate activism in Scotland, with examples of grassroots campaigns against the construction of new roads and efforts to improve public transport. The National Library of Scotland holds a collection of pamphlets from the 1960s to the 1990s that document these campaigns and provide valuable insights into Scotland's climate history. The library welcomes donations of climate activism-related materials from the public. [Extracted from the article]
