Abstract

This article discusses the role of Eleanor Roosevelt in the drafting and passing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. While she is widely admired for her human rights achievements, the article argues that she had a blind spot when it came to Palestine and the Palestinians. It suggests that her support for the Zionist movement and disregard for the rights of the indigenous Palestinians influenced public opinion and contributed to ongoing regional turmoil. The article calls for the reversal of the Palestinians' dispossession and the enforcement of UN Resolution 194 for their repatriation and compensation. [Extracted from the article]
