Abstract
Researchers have discovered mysterious ribbons of grayish white intertwined with the northern lights, which are not auroras themselves but may be related to a phenomenon similar to the mauve skyglow known as STEVE. These ghostly glows have been observed alongside red and green auroras and are made up of continuum emission, unlike typical auroras that emit specific wavelengths of light. The origin of these white lights within the auroras remains a mystery, with scientists speculating that they may be caused by atmospheric heating. Further research into these phenomena could provide valuable insights into the underlying processes shaping the auroras. [Extracted from the article]
