Abstract

The article focuses on a study examining the relationship between adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines and symptoms of depression and anxiety among Chinese students. Conducted by researchers from Hong Kong Baptist University, the study involved a cross-sectional survey of 1,674 elementary school students, revealing that only 1.4% met all movement guideline components. Findings indicated that better adherence to these guidelines was associated with lower levels of depressive and anxiety symptoms, while perceived fitness was linked to improved mental health, though its mediating role was minimal. The study suggests future research should include objective fitness assessments to further explore these associations. [Extracted from the article]
