Abstract

The article looks at the emergence of pulp fiction publishing in Quebec during the Second World War. Topics include a description of pulp fiction format as adventures printed on cheap newsprint either in 16- or 32-page booklets, the focus of the small books on popular genres such as crime fiction starring detectives or police officers, spy stories, romance, science fiction and assorted adventures, and spy Jean Thibault alias Agent IXE-13 as the popular French-Canadian hero in pulp stories.
