Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the relationship between song lyrics and suicidal intent, an area previously unexplored in suicidology, which traditionally analyzes language through suicide notes and memoirs. Using keyword analysis, the study compared lyrics by Kurt Cobain to those of other late 1980s/early 1990s grunge artists, identifying distinctive words such as "gimme," "daddy's," and "stay," along with frequent terms like "yeah," "girl," and stems related to "depress," "gun," and "death." The research aims to inform future practice and investigation in mental health and suicide prevention. This study is currently a preprint and has not undergone peer review.
