Abstract
A centuries-old devotional plaque depicting the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus was discovered in the foundation of the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours chapel in Old Montreal. The plaque, which dates back to before 1675, features symbols that are difficult to interpret due to changing meanings over time. It was repurposed as a sundial and later used as a devotional plaque. The plaque has undergone conservation treatment and is now on display at the Marguerite Bourgeoys Historic Site in Old Montreal. The origins and purpose of the plaque, as well as the meaning behind its symbols, remain a mystery. [Extracted from the article]
