Abstract

The Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer is a popular stomp box used by many famous guitarists, most notably Stevie Ray Vaughan. While the TS808 is often praised as the ultimate version for authentic SRV tone, Vaughan actually used the TS9 model from 1982 to 1985. He consistently used the TS9 on stage and in the studio during the peak of his career. Vaughan preferred to dial his TS9 with the Level knob up and the Drive knob down for a clean boost setting, and he liked the pedal's lower midrange emphasis. The TS9 reissue offered by Ibanez today is a good alternative to the original Eighties version. [Extracted from the article]
