Abstract
The article reviews several notable jazz and Brazilian music reissues and archival recordings, highlighting their historical and artistic significance. It features Geri Allen and Kurt Rosenwinkel’s 2012 live concert, showcasing their empathetic piano-guitar interplay; a 3-CD box set of Mildred Bailey’s recordings from 1929 to 1947, illustrating her evolution and collaborations with swing era luminaries; and João Gilberto’s 1998 solo concert at São Paulo’s Serviço Social do Comércio, capturing his intimate mastery of Bossa Nova and Samba. Additionally, it covers two Acrobat compilations of Benny Goodman’s hits from 1931 to 1953, tracing his rise as the King of Swing and his groundbreaking interracial collaborations. Finally, the article discusses a 1959 live album by the Dave Brubeck Quartet, a key document preceding the breakthrough of their landmark album *Time Out*.
