Abstract
The article focuses on recent developments in international security and arms control, highlighting U.S. intelligence assessments, military actions, and policy shifts. The U.S. intelligence community reports that China does not have a fixed timeline to invade Taiwan, while continuing to modernize its nuclear forces amid strategic competition with the United States. The U.S. employed a new short-range ballistic missile, the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), in combat against Iranian targets, marking its first operational use since the U.S. withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. Finland announced plans to amend its Nuclear Energy Act to permit hosting nuclear weapons, aligning with broader European defense initiatives, a move criticized by Russia. Additionally, Russia made unsubstantiated claims about Western nuclear transfers to Ukraine, which were denied by involved parties, and the U.S. Department of Defense designated AI company Anthropic as a supply chain risk amid contract disputes, restricting its products' use in military operations.
