Abstract

The article examines the complexities and opportunities of multiculturalism within Australian churches, focusing on a local Vietnamese church in Melbourne that, while mono-ethnic, is culturally and generationally diverse. It highlights challenges faced by migrant faith communities in navigating intercultural and intergenerational differences and explores how Paul’s missional strategy with the multi-ethnic church in Ancient Philippi offers insights for ministry in Australia’s diverse context. The author suggests that no single church model or missional approach will suffice in Australia’s multi-ethnic, multi-faith landscape, advocating instead for mutual respect and support among varied church communities to foster the gospel’s progress amid cultural diversity.
