Abstract
The book *Media Ruins: Cambodian Postwar Media Reconstruction and the Geopolitics of Technology* examines Cambodia's efforts to restore its media infrastructure and cultural heritage following the devastation of the Khmer Rouge regime (1975–1979). It traces the historical evolution of Cambodian media from the mid-twentieth century through the 1990s, highlighting the political and cultural challenges of rebuilding amid trauma and international intervention. The work also explores contemporary initiatives by Cambodian groups using digital technology to recover and commemorate lost media artifacts, emphasizing the role of media restoration in collective healing and political expression. Additionally, the book analyzes the geopolitical dynamics influencing these efforts, particularly the tensions between local practices and global digital platforms in shaping Cambodia's media memory and identity.
