Abstract
She reveals that workers are in no sense one-dimensional: neither working-class revolutionaries nor disciplined workers (pp. 209-10). Moreover, workers' motivation to strike emerges not from a revolutionary political spirit but from the oppression they are subjected to in the workplace - especially the nonpayment of wages. In I Castoffs of Capital i , Lamia Karim presents new dimensions of garment workers' lives, from the dynamics of capitalism to the nature of social norms that render these workers nameless and faceless.
