Abstract

A D.C. Superior Court judge ruled that the trademark for the far-right militia group "Proud Boys" now belongs to the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, a historic black church targeted by Proud Boys members. The church argued that the Proud Boys committed fraud in transferring the trademark to a shell company made up of members charged for their roles in the Capitol riot. The church now owns the exclusive rights to the Proud Boys trademark, marking the first time a Black institution owns property of a white supremacist group. [Extracted from the article]
