Abstract

Lucrezia Borgia, the daughter of Pope Alexander VI, is often portrayed as a femme fatale surrounded by scandal and rumors of incest, murder, and poisonings. However, there is no conclusive evidence to support these claims. Lucrezia was highly educated and married three times, with her second husband being murdered, possibly by her brother Cesare. Despite her tumultuous upbringing, Lucrezia became a respected noblewoman and patron of the arts. The fascination with her supposed infamy has persisted throughout history, but it is likely that she has been unfairly maligned by malicious gossip and rumors. [Extracted from the article]
