Abstract

The article focuses on the role of the *Topaz Times*, a bilingual newspaper published at the Topaz internment camp in Utah during World War II, in fostering community among Japanese Americans who were forcibly relocated there. Established under the War Relocation Authority, the *Topaz Times* provided vital information, reflected diverse voices, and documented significant events, including the loyalty questionnaire, the shooting of resident James Wakasa, and the military draft. The newspaper served as a platform for civic engagement and debate, helping to create a sense of identity and solidarity among internees despite the harsh conditions and trauma they faced.
