Abstract

The article focuses on the collaboration between Maleza, a Madrid-based millinery studio led by Javier Reta Gallego and Myrte Sara Huyts, and Dutch textile designer Claudy Jongstra on her LOADS project. LOADS is a system designed to promote craftsmanship and the cultivation of high-quality, ecological materials with positive environmental impacts. Jongstra, known for her work with wool and natural dyes from her biodynamic farm in Friesland, invited Maleza to create a collection of bespoke hats using merino wool felt dyed with plant-based colors sourced from biodynamic farms in the Netherlands and Spain. The collaboration merges Maleza’s artisanal hat-making techniques with Jongstra’s sustainable and restorative approach to materials, emphasizing truthfulness and ecological responsibility in luxury fashion.
