Abstract
On Hyderabad Liberation Day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah greeted the people of the erstwhile Hyderabad region, acknowledging their fight against the tyrant Nizam to be united with India as a glorious manifestation of patriotism. On September 17, 1948, the Hyderabad state, under Nizam's rule, was annexed into the Union of India through military action initiated by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Shah also extended his greetings to the people of Maharashtra's Marathwada region, commemorating their struggle against the Nizams and Razakars to unite the region with India. The Razakars, a private militia, had committed atrocities and defended the Nizam rule, calling for Hyderabad state to join Pakistan or become a Muslim dominion. [Extracted from the article]
