Abstract

This letter to the editor responds to a case study and scoping review on the potential misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) in bioweapon development. The authors agree with the importance of an ethical approach to AI and the need for ethics education for clinical professionals. They highlight the historical example of the Japanese imperial army Unit 731, which developed bioweapons in violation of ethical principles. The authors conducted a survey of medical school graduates in Japan and found that only a small percentage had received education on the war crimes of Unit 731. They emphasize the need for increased ethics education and the integration of ethical AI use in professional schools. [Extracted from the article]
