Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the physical and mental health challenges faced by rural women engaged in traditional farming practices in Assam, India. Conducted between May 2021 and April 2022, the research surveyed 100 women from four villages near Diphu town, revealing significant discomfort in areas such as the lower back, wrists, and legs, alongside psychosocial stress linked to their workloads. The study emphasizes the need for ergonomically designed farming tools and psychological support to alleviate these strains, noting that the adverse effects extend to younger generations, who are increasingly disinterested in pursuing agriculture as a livelihood. This trend contributes to rising rural unemployment and hinders sustainable development in agricultural communities. [Extracted from the article]
