Abstract
The author critiques the ekphrastic poetry, a poetry that describes a work of visual art, of Robert Hayden. He notes that Hayden's collected works revealed a gifted artist adept at poems long and short, comic and dramatic. He mentions the poem "Kodachromes of the Island," which explores what art offers the alien and alone, estranged and roaming.
