Abstract
The article focuses on severe flooding in China's Guangdong province caused by unusually heavy and persistent rainfall, leading to the evacuation of nearly 60,000 residents across multiple cities in the Pearl River Delta. Authorities have reported dangerously high water levels, with some rivers and reservoirs overflowing, and have issued warnings of a potential "once in 100 years" flood event. The floods have resulted in at least three deaths, 11 missing persons, widespread power outages, and an estimated economic loss of approximately $19.4 million. Local officials are mobilizing emergency resources to provide housing, water, and food, while meteorological experts predict continued heavy rains in Guangdong and neighboring regions.
