Abstract

The article focuses on Dan Vallo, an artist from Acoma Pueblo, who won the 2024 Best of Show at the Santa Fe Indian Market for his piece titled "Pueblo Revolt Ensemble." This work, which includes a bow, arrow, and knife, reflects 17th-century technology and commemorates the Pueblo Revolt against Spanish colonization in New Mexico. Vallo employs traditional materials and techniques, such as flintknapping and leatherworking, to create his art, which honors both his cultural heritage and personal history. Following his recent success, Vallo plans to transition to full-time artistry and expand his creative endeavors, including teaching and demonstrating his skills. [Extracted from the article]
