Abstract

Researchers from Shiraz University conducted a comparative study of Shakespeare's Hamlet and Sarah Kane's 4.48 Psychosis in terms of Levinasian ethical self, focusing on the treatment of the Other. The study concluded that while unethical characters in Shakespeare's works mostly meet their end, Kane's characters are left in a much more dire state, unable to transcend Being towards the Other. This research sheds light on how postmodern literature treats unethical beings harsher compared to early modern works. [Extracted from the article]
