Abstract

The article reflects on the new chair of the ABA Litigation Section's commitment to "building" people, ideals, and legacies, drawing inspiration from scripture, legal ethics, and the tradition of social engineering in the law. Topics include the legacy of Dean Charles Hamilton Houston and the lawyer's role as a "social engineer," the Section's mission to promote excellence, diversity, equity, inclusion, and the rule of law, and the priorities of the 2025–2026.
