Abstract

India is withdrawing its High Commissioner and other officials from Canada after they were named as "persons of interest" in the murder of a Sikh activist in British Columbia. Canada has expelled the Indian diplomats, accusing them of conducting clandestine activities to intimidate and harass members of the south Asian community. This further strains the already deteriorating relationship between the two countries, which began when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that India was behind the assassination of a Sikh separatist and Canadian citizen. India has denied any involvement in the murder and accused Canada of endangering the safety of its officials. [Extracted from the article]
