Abstract

We have no modern estimates for the population of England as a whole, that is including Monmouthshire, or of Wales and hence of England and Wales in total, in the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The present paper suggests a simple way of estimating these missing totals that may be imperfect, but represents an improvement on what has hitherto been available. It presents the estimates for quinquennial periods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
