Abstract
The article discusses the fear of an Arab oil embargo, similar to the one that occurred during the 1973 war between Arabs and Israel. However, the article argues that such an embargo is unlikely to happen today due to several reasons. Arab oil-producing nations are focused on increasing their income rather than reducing it through an embargo. Additionally, the global oil market has changed significantly since 1973, with alternative energy sources and decreased dependence on oil. Efforts to put up a joint diplomatic stand against Israel have also not been successful, as some Arab countries rejected proposals to stop oil supplies to Israel and sever ties with the country. Overall, the possibility of an oil embargo remains minimal. [Extracted from the article]
