Abstract

The article provides detailed reviews of several contemporary jazz and related genre albums, highlighting their distinctive musical approaches and key contributors. Mitch Dalton’s *Out of the Shadows* features the UK session guitarist leading a smooth exploration of American genres with notable London-based collaborators, including singer Jazz Morley. Brazilian guitarist Fabiano Do Nascimento’s orchestral project, led by trombonist Vittor Santos, blends bossa nova, samba, and classical elements to evoke his childhood home. Pianist Paul Edis and vocalist Noa Levy reinterpret Bill Evans’s compositions with added lyrics and intimate arrangements. Canadian pianist Kris Davis’s *The Solastalgia Suite* addresses climate change themes through a collaboration with the Lutoslawski Quartet, combining sparse and intense motifs. Flea’s solo debut album reflects his jazz roots and features collaborations with prominent musicians, while Bill Frisell’s *In My Dreams* offers a reflective blend of jazz, Americana, and folk with longtime associates. Norwegian composer Tuva Halse’s *Reconnection* presents fresh Nordic chamber jazz influenced by Scandinavian folk and baroque classical music. Finally, Roberto Fonseca and cellist Vincent Segal’s *Nuit Parisienne à la Havane* is an intimate, genre-spanning duo recording that melds Cuban, Spanish, and classical influences.
