Abstract
The article focuses on the Java War (1825-1830), a significant conflict in which Javanese rebels, led by Prince Diponegoro, fought against Dutch colonial rule in Java. The war emerged from a backdrop of European political upheaval and local grievances, including economic exploitation and cultural disrespect. Diponegoro, influenced by his upbringing and Islamic beliefs, sought to restore Javanese honor and autonomy, leading a guerrilla campaign that initially gained traction against Dutch forces. However, despite early successes, the Dutch eventually adapted their military strategies, leading to the defeat of Diponegoro and the consolidation of Dutch colonial power in Indonesia. The conflict had lasting impacts on Javanese society and inspired future nationalist movements. [Extracted from the article]
