Abstract
Felix Kersten, a Baltic German with Finnish citizenship, was a renowned masseur who gained fame for his ability to relieve physical pain. He became the personal masseur of SS Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler, which gave him the opportunity to save the lives of concentration camp prisoners by presenting Himmler with lists of people to be released. Kersten's actions led to the release of approximately 60,000 Jewish prisoners. However, while Kersten's story is seen by some as that of a brave humanitarian, others view him as a clever dissembler. His diary and memoir, reconstructed after the war, contain a mix of fact and fantasy, and he led a luxurious lifestyle during the Nazi regime. Despite this, Kersten's actions demonstrate that morally compromised individuals can still perform good deeds. [Extracted from the article]
