Abstract

The article discusses the life and legacy of Canada's premiere jazz performer Eleanor Collins. Topics include the impact of Collins's historical omission on her own trajectory as a Black Canadian woman forging a career within the White Canadian media industry as cited in an essay by filmmaker Sylvia Hamilton, her success in the Canadian television and music industries, her family background, discrimination she faced, and Canada Post's issuance of a postage stamp in 2022 honoring Collins.
