Abstract
The article discusses debates by theologians, officials and administrators in the Colegio de San Gregorio in Valladolid in August 1550, when Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and king of Spain, halted Spanish conquests in the Americas. It mentions that two disputants including humanist scholar Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda and Dominican friar Bartolomé de las Casas agreed evangelism. It reveals that Las Casas defended human sacrifice.
